The violence erupted from Faculty of Engineering before spreading to other departments. According to an eye witness report “majority of the students who came to cast their vote for the presidential elect where looking for the name of ‘ChuksMary’who unknown to them have been disqualified thus his name was not visible among the SUG presidential candidate in the ballot paper.

Another issue of major concern that made the students get annoyed and scatter the ballot boxes were the paper used in casting the vote. It was neither watermarked nor any form of authentic signature attached to the paper in order to avoid rigging.

The paper used for the SUG election was A4 paper, cut with scissors and names of candidates with their small passports attached and a text box to tick a candidate. Students were displeased with the election planning.
