Ten 21st-Century Films that are Underappreciated

The year 1988, which featured cult favorites and masterpieces like Beetlejuice (Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice!) and Die Hard, was 35 years ago as of the year 2023. Shake the shock of that off as you get up from the floor. Here are a few movies from a great year that don’t quite get the recognition they merit.

Moon (2009) – A science fiction drama about a man who is on a three-year mission on the Moon and discovers a dark secret that challenges his sanity.

Coherence (2013) – A mind-bending thriller about a group of friends who attend a dinner party and start experiencing strange phenomena that blur their perception of reality.

The Nice Guys (2016) – A buddy cop comedy set in the 1970s about a private detective and a hired enforcer who team up to investigate the disappearance of a young woman.

The Guest (2014) – A suspenseful thriller about a soldier who visits the family of his fallen comrade and slowly reveals his true, dangerous intentions.

Attack the Block (2011) – A British science fiction comedy about a gang of young thugs who defend their housing complex from an alien invasion.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015) – A stylish spy thriller set in the 1960s about a CIA agent and a KGB agent who team up to prevent a nuclear disaster.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015) – A coming-of-age drama about a high school senior who befriends a girl with cancer and discovers the power of friendship and creativity.
